Live Better in Buchanan Arts District

The Buchanan Arts District gives back to the community in every sector: Restaurants, Merchandise, and Art. Local businesses and homes are tightly woven together offering a unique urban living experience through art, culture, and dining – all in walking distance. A perfect example of this is the two-story mural of rock idol Jimi Hendrix’s legendary guitar showdown with his early mentor, Johnny Jones. Painted in 2016 by Norf on the side of a former club at 2614 Jefferson Street.

In the last 8 years this community has experienced a renaissance after Interstate 40 was built in the 60’s, disrupting the community and closing many businesses. This has become a community of makers! – Home to several artist’s groups such as Norf Art Collective, Elephant, and Nisolo.

The LB Group recommends:

Slim & Husky’s: locally sourced and build your own artisan pizzas will blow your mind –  not to mention the made fresh daily cinnamon rolls. You won’t just get great food but great feels here knowing your dollars will contribute to their community outreach programs.

Nisolo: Offers handcrafted leather goods sourced from artisans in Kenya and Peru, who receive wages that exceed Fair Trade requirements. “To understand our framework and why we’re so passionate about sustainability at Nisolo, you have to understand what’s wrong with the industry we’re in. Here’s the quick reality: the current state of the multi-trillion dollar fashion industry and its impact on people and the planet is one of the most significant problems the world faces today.” – The Nisolo Sustainability Framework

Norf Art Collective: Came onto the Nashville scene in 2015 and has been working to impact their community through the arts. You will find their murals dotted through the Buchanan neighborhood addressing topics such as poverty and race.
